A Cat, a Horse and a Mouse

test

Hi there. I’m named Silky, and I live with the Clarkes. There’s David Clarke, the father, Joanna Clarke, the mother, Mira Clarke, twelve years old, and Shelly Clarke, eight years old. Oh, and there’s Noodles. He’s the pony. Noodles and I get along quite well. Sometimes, I get kicked out because I’ve been “bad”, Noodles lets me climb on his back to look in the windows. This time I saw David holding a small, squirming bundle. It was scuffling around in David’s palm. I asked Noodles, “What’s that?”. Usually I’d expect a more straightforward answer, but Noodles just said “I don’t know.”. Really! Noodles is ten years old, I’m only five and he expects me to know more than him! I was exparasted. Then Shelly noticed me and she closed the curtains. Drat! A while later, Mira came to fetch me and she dropped me on the couch. I parted the curtains so Noodles could see. Joanna was unwrapping the bundle. At this time, I opened the window for Noodles. The object in the bundle turned out to be a mouse. I thought, “Disgusting!”, since I hate mice. Actually mice are my least favorite thing, except for baths. Joanna was explaining that the mouse’s name was Mikey, he came from the local pet center, blah, blah blah. I had a feeling- as I was the first pet -Shelly wouldn’t scratch my ears for a long time. The next morning, which was Sunday, Shelly spent the whole morning playing with Mikey. Luckily, Mira was kind enough to let me read a book with her. Today she was reading A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It was pretty interesting. In fact, I read all the way to dinnertime. Dinner today was salmon. I got the leftovers instead of my kibble. Lucky me! I lolled about on the rug for a long time to chill out. All of a sudden, David poked his head through the door and yelled, “Bath-time, Silky!” Oh no! In spite of the dinner and the book, I had forgotten that tonight was bath night! David didn’t pay attention to my pitiful meows. He just put me in the bath. Yuck! After that yucky bath, Mira let me sleep in her room. Yay! Mira is a real cat and pony fan. She has lots of posters on her walls. After all, she picked me and Noodles from the pet store. She’d named both of us. So she’s pretty much my favorite human. She promised Mikey and I would become friends. Maybe that’s true! I still think mice aren’t reliable. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. Probably not more salmon.
