Zavier's COVID-19 Vaccine

test

Zavier the zebra, along with his cousin, Zack the zebra were about to go to sleep when Zack remembered something.

"Hey, Zavier," said Zack.

"What?" asked Zavier.

"Your COVID-19 vaccine is due tomorow," Zack replied.

Zavier gulped. "Vaccine?"

"That's right," said Zack. "A few days ago, I took my COVID-19 vaccine. You haven't gotten the vaccine yet. There's nothing to worry about, Zavier. The sooner you get the vaccine, the sooner you'll be safe from COVID-19!"

"I've heard about the injection before. I don't want the vaccine!" Zavier wailed.

"Don't worry, Zavier," Zack replied. "Besides, I've got a huge surprise for you after you get the vaccine."

Zavier thought about it for a moment.

"We'll talk about it tomorrow, ok?" Zack said.

"Ok, if you say so," said Zavier sheepishly.

"Good night, Zavier," said Zack.

"Good night," Zavier replied.

But Zavier couldn't sleep. He lay awake just thinking about the vaccine.

When he finally fell asleep, he had a dream. In his dream, he and Zack were on their way to the vet. As soon as they got there, Zavier said, "What's a vaccine, anyway?"

"A vaccine is a special treatment that keeps you from getting sick," Zack replied.

As soon as they were in the vet's clinic, Zavier quickly jumped on the table.

As soon as the needle was inserted on the part where it should be, Zavier let out a scream.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" he yelled.

He woke up with his heart thumping fast.

Just then, Zack came in.

"What's wrong?"

"It's the vaccine! It made me scream! It was so very painful!" Zavier wailed. He was crying so loudly that the other animals in the wild heard it.

"You were just dreaming, Zavier," said Zack.

"Phew!" said Zavier, with a drop of sweat trickling down his face.

"Come on, let's have breakfast now," said Zack.

At breakfast, Zavier asked all kinds of questions about vaccines. The more Zack answered, the more afraid Zavier became.

"Why have the vaccine when you can just stay at home?" Zavier thought.

Just an hour before the vaccine, Zavier was still feeling afraid. He kept on thinking about it and even daydreamed about the vaccine! This time, was the needle itself was alive in his dream and was poking Zavier!

"OUCH! OUCH! STOP THAT!!!!" he screamed. Zack rushed to help.

"Are you having a daydream again, Zavier?" asked Zack.

"Yes," said Zavier.

"Don't think about the vaccine anymore, and start moving. One more hour before it's your turn and then you're done!"

But Zavier still wouldn't listen to Zack. He hoped the vaccine would never come. He even quivered and said, "Will I survive?" He knew he would, but it was going to be painful, he knew that, too.

At three o'clock p.m., the vet called and said, "You need to get here now. The clinic closes in thirty minutes."

"Ok, coming," said Zack, and put down the phone.

"Zavier, we need to go to the clinic. Come on," Zack said, and he led him to the clinic.

"We're here!" Zack said. Zavier gasped.

"Zack, let's go home!" said Zavier and ran for his life. Zack chased him all around the block.

"Come on, we gotta go!" said Zack. "Look! Five minutes before the vet closes."

"Okay, okay!" said Zavier, but he didn't like it.

As soon as they were in the clinic, the vet started preparing the vaccine. Suddenly, Zavier jumped on the table and turned into a ghost! He has brought an invisible machine that could turn him into a ghost.

"Zavier, what are you doing? Go back to being a normal zebra!" said Zack.

But Zavier wouldn't listen. He scared the vet off, saying, "Boo!" The vet ran around the clinic.

A few minutes later, he was back to normal. Zavier was on the table, with his eyes closed tight.

"Ouch! Ouch!" said Zavier. He was so frustrated! The vet snuck up on him just as he was turning back into his old self.

He groaned, screamed, whined, but most of all, he cried.

"There. All done," said the vet, removing the needle.

"That was so very painful!" Zavier told the vet.

"Zavier, you were very brave," said Zack. "You were afraid but you didn't go wild or ran away. You still let the vet give you the vaccine anyway. That is something only the bravest animals can do, and you are one of those brave animals. I'm proud of you."

"Thank you," said Zavier, still in pain.

With that, Zavier and Zack went home. Zavier began to feel better when they were home. He felt good knowing he faced his fear in order to be safe.
