Zack's Visit to the Dentist

One day, Zack the zebra was wiggling a loose tooth. He tried to wiggle it for six days, but it still would not come out.

"I wish this loose tooth would come out," Zack said, but he was hard to understand because he was still wiggling the tooth.

"What did you say?" asked Zavier the zebra, Zack's cousin.

"I said I wish this loose tooth would come out," Zack said, this time, he wasn't wiggling the tooth.

"Me too," said Zavier.

"I've got a plan," Zavier added. "If that loose tooth doesn't come out by tomorrow morning, we'll go to the dentist."

Zack agreed.

That afternoon, as Zack read a book, he wiggled it repeatedly.

Zack sighed. "I want the tooth to come out."

"Well, if you want that tooth to come out, you'd better keep wiggling," Zavier said.

"I am, I am," Zack said. "It's just that this loose tooth is so stubborn and won't come out."

At midnight, Zack was still wiggling his tooth. He had a difficult time sleeping.

That early morning, at 3:00 AM, Zack was still awake doing the same thing. But by 4:35 AM, the loose tooth still hadn't come out! Zack grew frustrated and kept on pushing it, and for the next few minutes, Zack tried to get it out of his mouth, but he couldn't. Finally, he gave up and went to sleep.

"Good morning," Zack said at 6:35 AM.

"Good morning," Zavier said.

"How did you sleep?" asked Alpha the wolf.

"I slept for an hour and 35 minutes only, from 5:00 AM to 6:35 AM."

Alpha wasn't surprised. "What were you doing?"

"I was wiggling my loose tooth. I was so focused on my tooth, I didn't keep track of time," said Zack, slumping on the floor.

Before Alpha could even reply, Zack was already asleep and snoring.

While Zack was asleep, he had a dream. He dreamt that his loose tooth talked!

"Good morning," the tooth suddenly said.

"How did you talk?" Zack asked in his sleep.

No answer.

"Well, why aren't you replying?' asked Zack, again in his sleep.

When he woke up, he told Zavier, "My loose tooth talked!"

"Don't worry, Zack. It's just a dream," said Zavier.

"Yeah, but it's my loose tooth. It wouldn't come out!" said Zack, pointing to his tooth.

"Zack, it's time to go to the dentist," he said. "The dentist closes at 4:00 PM."

"Ok," Zack said.

On the way to the dentist, Zack asked, "What if the tooth never comes out? What if it just stays in my mouth forever?"

"Well, that's a good question," Zavier said. "Your set two won't come out in time."

As soon as they were in the dentist's clinic, the dentist checked Zack's mouth. When he moved the loose tooth he told Zack, "This might hurt for a bit."

The dentist tried to pull it out but he couldn't. He tried hard, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't pull out the loose tooth.

Then the dentist told Zavier that he needed his help. And together, they tugged and tugged and tugged and tugged and tugged...then slowly, very slowly, the tooth became loose and more loose.

When the tooth was finally out of Zack's mouth, the dentist accidentally dropped it in the sink!

"Oh no!" Zack said in a panic. "Doctor, please get it! I'm collecting all my loose teeth!"

"Sorry," the dentist said. He picked up Zack's tooth, put it in a plastic container, and Zack and Zavier went home.

Zavier gave Zack grass ice cream to help his gums. And Zack's set two came out the next week.
